About BrainRank
Many online IQ tests make you sit through 30 questions, then hide your score behind a "trial" that quietly turns into a monthly subscription. BrainRank is the honest alternative: the test is free, and if you want your result it costs €2, once. That's all.
Questions
Is this a real IQ test?
No. BrainRank is an online test for entertainment and self-reflection. It is not a clinical or official IQ assessment. A real IQ assessment is given in person by a trained psychologist using standardised, validated tests. Our "estimated IQ score" only tells you how you did compared with other people who took this same test.
Do you charge monthly?
No, never. There is no subscription and no trial that turns into one. Seeing your result is a one-time payment of €2. We don't keep your card on file, and you'll never be charged again.
What do I get for €2?
Your estimated IQ score, your percentile rank ("you scored higher than X% of test-takers"), your score for each question type, a shareable result card, and an email with a private link back to your result. If you're in the top 100 of all time or top 10 of the month, you can also add a nickname to the leaderboard if you want to.
What happens if I don't pay?
Nothing. Your result is still added anonymously to the ranking, and you can see general stats such as how many people have taken the test and the average score. You just won't see your own score.
How is the estimated IQ calculated?
Your score is the number of correct answers plus a small bonus for time left (worth at most 2 points, and scaled by how many answers you got right, so rushing doesn't help). We work out what share of all completed tests you beat, then place that on a bell curve with an average of 100 and a standard deviation of 15, limited to 55–145.
Why might my estimate change over time?
Because it's relative to everyone who has taken the test. While fewer than 200 people have taken it, we show a note that rankings will become more accurate as more people join.
Can I take it again?
Yes. Each finished attempt counts as a separate anonymous result. The questions stay the same, though, so a second attempt usually scores higher. Your first result is the most meaningful one.
Where do the questions come from?
All 30 questions were written for BrainRank. All the images are generated as simple vector graphics. Nothing is copied from published IQ tests.
